New Unit 4 Calendar: u4_calendar2008
Monday: Welcome back, scholars. We’ll begin the semester with our new Vocabulary (provided the copier is working this morning). Flash cards will be due tomorrow. We will go over a powerpoint on Frankenstein and hand out the instructions for the Children’s Book Project. Tomorrow, you’ll have some group time to coordinate the work. gothic_childrens_book
Vocabulary: vocabulary-semester-two
Tuesday: First, we’ll check flash cards and check out Things Fall Apart and its study guide. There is a background assignment that that will be collected on Thursday. After intrducing the novel, we’ll have group time in which you should determine the general plot of your Children’s Story and what will happen in your segment. You can also decide how you are handling the illustrations (this part is required). Decide how you can (fairly) break up the project so that no one person will be taking on more than others.
Wednesday: Today, we’ll take the Frankenstein Test.
Thursday: Vocab Quiz Today! We’ll discuss the Essay Circles Writing Project for the Semester. We’ll review Thesis statements and Topic Sentences and discuss the first Essay (Expository). Essay is to explain how an invention changed humanity (industry, warfare, or daily living).
Friday: Outline for Expository Essay and your two pages of Children’s Book Project due! Today you will have time to beign writing the essay. The final 20 minutes, you can work with your group on assembling your project.
